Veneers are very thin, tooth-colored shells that are custom-fit and bonded
to the front sides of teeth to close gaps, cover stains and discolorations,
and correct chipped or misshapen teeth to give you a bright, even, attractive
smile.

Typically veneers are difficult to stain, making veneers a very popular
solution for many people seeking that perfect smile. Strong and very
durable, veneers last from ten to fifteen years, and come in colors that
will brighten dark teeth without the worry of them changing color. Veneers
are typically done in only two one and a half hour long appointments,
and can actually strengthen your tooth.

In many
situations, dental implants can give back patients their confident smile. The
benefits are improved esthetics, the ability to eat comfortably and a
clean, healthy oral environment for the patient.
Dental Implants are small prosthetic posts that are placed into the
bone of the upper or lower jaw. They act as replacements for the
root portion of lost natural teeth and also serve as an anchor for replacement
teeth. Dental implants look and feel exactly like natural teeth
-- in fact, no-one will be able to tell the difference. Dental
implants are appropriate for almost anyone who is currently missing teeth
or is at risk of losing teeth.

There are many different types of dental implants available. Our
dentists have extensive experience in dental implants and would be pleased
to discuss the benefits of implant prosthetics with you. Ask about
implant restorative treatment at the time of your consultation.
What are Dental Implants?
The implants themselves are titanium cylinders which are inserted
into the jawbone where teeth are missing and act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically
placed into the jawbone. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong
foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts are then attached to the implant
which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for
artificial replacement teeth. Implants also help preserve facial structure,
preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Crowns are used to strengthen and improve the shape, size or color
of teeth. They can support broken or weak teeth or those with large fillings;
provide a smooth, strong, attractively contoured surface for stained,
misshapen or otherwise abnormal teeth; and aid in the implantation of
bridges and other implants.

Dental Bridges (fixed
partial dentures) |
Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements which help maintain facial
structure, reduce stress on the jaw and fill in the gaps caused by missing
teeth. Bridges may be made of porcelain, gold, alloys or a combination
of these. Removable bridges can be taken out and cleaned at home, while
fixed bridges are implanted in the jaw and bonded to the teeth with crowns
or caps and cannot be removed.

Root Canals (Endodontics) |
Root canals can prevent tooth decay and loss when the pulp (soft
core of the tooth that provides nutrients) is damaged due to bacterial
infection in a deep cavity, crack or other problem. Despite its reputation
as a painful ordeal, a root canal is actually not very uncomfortable. During
the procedure, the damaged pulp is removed, the root canal is cleaned and
sealed off, and a crown is bonded to the tooth (sometimes a temporary filling
is placed first) to maintain strength.

Headache and Migraine Treatment |
In some cases, headaches and migraines are caused by
tension from clenching or grinding in your sleep. When this happens,
wearing a device at night called an NTI appliance takes the pressure
off your jaw and eliminates or reduces the headaches or migraines.
This appliance is the first clinically proven, non-drug method for
the prevention of migraines. The NTI-tss is a small, virtually invisible
mouthpiece that covers only your upper front teeth while you sleep. This
appliance may be indicated for daytime wear also.

Education and prevention are the cornerstones for the
dental health of children. Early detection of problems as well as a comprehensive prevention program can
help your child maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime and help prevent the
need for extensive, costly dental treatment.
In addition to teaching parents about
dental care for their child, checkups are an appropriate time
to comfortably and easily evaluate:
- how many teeth
- are all teeth present
- loose teeth
- cavity check
- check health of gums
- braces / bite evaluation
- habit evaluation
- homecare / prevention
|
- fluoride use
- review diet
- review health history
- evaluate tongue, speech
- address adult's concerns
- teach adults how to care for child's teeth

For most fillings on back teeth we use a natural looking, cosmetic resin. This is a strong, plastic material that is easy to apply and difficult to detect. This material produces a long lasting, natural looking filling.

When the size of a cavity is too large for this material, we are then able to use ceramic, tooth colored partial crowns called onlays. These onlays are made in 2 visits to the office and are also a durable, cosmetic solution.

Invisalign® is a remarkable system of invisible aligners that help straighten teeth comfortably without metal bands, brackets or wires. The pieces are easily removable so you can eat, drink, brush and floss. Best of all, no one will know you’re wearing Invisalign aligners unless you tell them.
Now you can enjoy the smile you have always wanted without the annoyance of metal in your mouth. No huge brackets darkening your smile. No irritated lips or cheeks. No worries about mouth injury while playing sports.
Invisalign can eliminate crowding or large spaces between your teeth. Even complex cases such as overbites, underbites and crossbites can be treated.
Typically, Invisalign cases take about a year from start to finish. You will see Dr. Brigati and staff every 6-8 weeks to review your progress. You will receive additional aligners every few visits. Treatment time and the number of aligners you receive will vary case by case.
How do I begin?
- Make an appointment with Dr. Brigati and staff. During your visit you can decide on your course of treatment. Impressions of your bite will be made and sent to Invisalign for processing.
- Your aligners will be made using advanced 3-D computer imaging. Your bite impressions are used to construct a custom-made series of clear and removable aligners.
- You will receive your aligners.
- You will wear your aligners day and night, according to Dr. Brigat's instructions. They will only be removed to eat, drink, brush and floss.

We are now providing oral cancer screenings for our patients using the ViziLite System. Oral cancer, when detected early is one of the most curable diseases. This is why Dr. Brigati recommends an annual ViziLite exam in combination with a conventional visual examination. ViziLite uses technology that has been proven successful in identifying precancerous and cancerous abnormalities.
It is oral lesion identification and marking system. It helps Dr. Brigati examine oral lesions at their earliest stages of development. When premalignant lesions or early stage cancer is found, treatment is simpler, less invasive and more than 90% successful. Patients that are from age 18 or older that are sexually active, tobacco users and alcohol users, or have a history of oral cancer are at risk and would benefit from this test.
Please ask Dr. Brigati and her team about this wonderful new way to detect oral cancer in your mouth.
